The computer holds an image as an ordered array of pixels, themselves defined by bits defined numerically. All this is encoded in orderly fashion giving the artist tools to transform all visual components to his desire and sometimes amazement.
String Theory started decades ago as a charcoal rubbing of strings arrayed as a seated figure. This was digitized in camera and so became an array of bits that I could and did alter in the computer by colorizing some parts and adding top and lower borders.
FAO- was created in similar ways, starting with a photograph instead of a drawing...
